Some of you have called hearing of the fire at the Colonial Beach Marina. The main covered pier burned to the water ... a major fire .. and it appears about 60 boats were lost. I do not know the exact number. Apolonia was moored at the Oyster Dock area and is fine. The wind was blowing across our boat to the covered slip pier. They allowed me down there and I moved the boat ... starboard side was a little warm but no damage. It is safely moored at Stepps Habor View Marina. Apparently no one was hurt in the fire. We hope that holds true. There are major boat loses though. Phil and Anne Bolin
Dear friends and family, As you all know we keep our boat at the Colonial Beach Yacht Center. And yes, the marina burned down today. We were at the boat when the fire started under the covered slips in the huge boat section. The wind was strong and quickly blew the fire down inside the covered slips. We quickly started and pulled out. We had to go through heavy black smoke from fire on the slips on the port side. We now have the boat up the channel at Stanford Marine center in a borrowed slip they were nice enough to lend us. In all about 10 boats escaped and were mostly shoved up the bay. We count ourselves VERY LUCKY. If we had stayed another 5 min we would have lost all and had to swimf or it. Lucy and Nabil Dubraque
