PRYCA Honors
- Background: At their meeting in January 1997, the PRYCA Board approved
three classes of honors to be awarded at the discretion of the Commodore and Board for
service to PRYCA and its member clubs. Candidates for these awards can be considered at
any time, but normally the awards will be made annually at the Change of Watch
Dinner-Dance. The PRYCA honors are: Distinguished Commodore, Honorary Captain, and
Meritorious Service.
- Distinguished Commodore. This award is intended to honor Past Commodores
of PRYCA who have distinguished themselves by high level service and significant
accomplishments in yachting in general, with special emphasis on the Potomac River, PRYCA
and the clubs of PRYCA. The associated title is "Distinguished Commodore of the
Potomac."
- Honorary Captain. This award is intended to honor former members of the
PRYCA Bridge/Board, especially those who have not become Commodore, but who have performed
notable service to the Association with significant benefit to the member clubs. This
award carries the title of "Honorary Captain of the Potomac."
- Meritorious Service. This award is intended to honor members from
Association Clubs who have made significant contributions to the Association. There is no
title associated with this award.
