The Westmoreland Yachting Association (WYA) serves the Northern Neck of Virginia and all of the waters surrounding it: the Chesapeake Bay, the Potomac, the Rappahannock River and all of their tributaries. We are a “virtual” boating club and focus on the idea of serving and including boaters and boat enthusiasts who are from different localities, marinas and “ports of call”. We currently have members from the southern tip of the Northern Neck up to Fredericksburg and Occoquan and many places in between. WYA schedules cruises to Kinsale, Kilmarnock, Crisfield, Windmill Point, Washington DC, a 2 week cruise down the Intercoastal Waterway (the Ditch), etc.
In addition to the normal structure of Commodore, Vice Commodore, etc. we have Fleet Captains who represent their geographic areas such as the Tides Inn area, Monroe Bay and Maddox Creek (Colonial Beach), Aquia Creek, Kinsale and the Occoquan River.
Finally, WYA meetings take place up and down the Northern Neck so that everyone gets a chance to host. We entertain and visit other yacht clubs during the boating season and join them on cruises. The WYA accepts everyone as members: old and young, new boaters, very seasoned boaters and everything in between including those that don’t have boats at the moment. The only requirement is a love of the water, having a great time and a fascination with anything that floats. Please visit our website at www.wyava.com.
