Thank you to our hosts at Mt. Vernon Yacht Club who put on this special event. PRYCA Vice Commodore and Coast Guard Aux member Steve Donock demonstrated a number of techniques including the use of a flare gun. The event started with a welcome from Commodore Matthews and included boat tours aboard Tow Boat II, who had to leave early due to low tide.
One of the highlights of the day was practice putting out a fire that was set in a burn tray. The proper technique was demonstrated by the Fairfax County Fire Department and then they instructed the participants in the proper technique for putting out a fire. The kids were able to try this out as well.
Occoquan YC members Susan, Arleen and Jess were there to participate and learn.
